Please check the following steps to connect the RJ45 serial port from MOXA NPort series to RS-232 console port from CISCO server:
Option 1:
You can use the following cable combination if you do not want to create your own RJ45 to RJ45 cable.
If communication is working via PC’s hardware COM-Port using the CISCO RJ45 to DB9 cable, it will also work via connecting the CBL-RJ45SM9-150 – DB9 to NPort’s RJ45 serial port.
Option 2:
In case you need to make your own RJ45 to RJ45 cable please check the information below.
You cannot use straight or crossover RJ45 cable due to different pin assignments between MOXA serial RJ45 port and CISCO serial RJ45 console port (see Appendix for pin assignments used).
Please keep in mind that MOXA can only provide pin assignment for MOXA devices. Please review CISCO pin assignment in CISCO documentation.

Warning:
Please keep in mind that the cable is not a straight or crossover cable.
Make sure to connect the RJ45 connector having Moxa pin assignment to Moxa serial port.
Communication only will work when connecting the cable correctly to the devices.
